Rezensionen
Nach der Doppel-DVD "Eyes wide open", kommt nun mit "EleKtrik" eine Audio-CD, die den Großteil des Japan-Konzertes vom 16-ten April 2003 beinhaltet, das man bereits auf der ersten DVD von "Eyes wide open" ungekürzt sehen und hören konnte. Für mich ergibt eine Audio-CD immer noch mehr Sinn als eine DVD, so dass mir selbst ein unvollständiges Konzert (in diesem Fall fehlen "The ConstruKction of Light" und "The Deception of the Thrush") lieber ist, als gar keine Live-CD von der "The power to believe"-Tour.
Und so kann ich mich an den 2003 aktuellen King Crimson-Stücken erfreuen, die Robert Fripps Zielsetzung, komplex, diszipliniert und zugleich kraftvoll zu musizieren auf perfekte Weise verwirklichen. Die verstärkte Vereinnahmung der Blues-, und Metal-Elemente tut dem keinen Abbruch, waren doch King Crimson bereits 1969 mit "21st Century Schizoid Man" so etwas wie Progmetal-Vorreiter. Die World Music-Einflüsse (siehe "The Power to believe II-Power circle") sind für den hervorragenden Gesamteindruck dieses Konzertes ebenso wichtig, wie die Anlehnung an den "Larks' Tongues in Aspic"-Zyklus und die elektronisch eingefärbten, für drei Gitarren und Schlagzeug komponierten Stücke, deren Ursprung bei den "ProjeKcts" zu suchen ist.
Leider ist diese King Crimson-Besetzung nach Weggang von Trey Gunn bereits Geschichte.
